sTRINGS
Nel
corso degli anni ho usato molte diverse corde. Recentemente ho avuto il
supporto del fabbricante Pirastro per trovare la corda migliore e
sperimentare nuove solutioni. Sono molto grato per questa
possibilità che mi è stata offerta, in cambio ho fornito
a Pirastro dei report dettagliati circa i miei test, con tutti i miei
giudizi.
Innanzitutto,
il musicista deve sapere una corda non può dare una scorciatoia
per migliorare il proprio suono e ottenere i migliori colpi d'arco.
* IL SUONO deve essere
prima nelle dita e nella testa, dopo di che saremo in grado di ottenere
il nostro proprio suono sui qialsiasi corda.
* ARCATE DIFFICILI si riescono a suonare solo dopo molte ore di studio, la corda non suonerà al posto nostro!
Ciononostante, la scelta della corda è un fattore importante per
la nostra musica perchè ci può aiutare a trovare il suono
che vogliamo. Questo dipende da vari fattori: la corda è uno,
poi anche lo strumento, le dita, la tecnica e il repertorio devono
essere considerati. E' questione di trovare un equilibrio non facile da
ottenere.
Un set di corde può essere soddisfacente per uno strumentista,
ma non per un altro, anche se suonano lo stesso genere. Inoltre, lo
stesso musicista che suona la stessa musica sulle stesse corde montate
su strumenti diversi, può sentire differenze.
Ci sono diversi tipi di corde - e la scelta implica anche considerazioni filosofiche e filologiche!
1. CORDE IN BUDELLO (nudo e/o rivestito)
2. CORDE IN METALLO (diversi tipi di metallo)
3. CORDE IBRIDE (con anima o rivestimento sintetici)
Ogni gruppo ha diverse
caratteristiche. Durante gli anni passati la collaborazione con
Pirastro mi hya permesso di farmi un'idea piuttosto precisa circa pro e
contro di ogni tipo di corda.
Permettetemi infine di puntualizzare che ho sperimentato anche corde di altri produttori.

In the past years I have used many different strings.
Recently, I
have received great support from the market leader Pirastro to identify
the best strings and try new solutions. I am very grateful

this and for the chance to try and chose very good strings; in exchange
I have been giving to Pirastro detailed reports
about my tests, including all my impressions.
First
of all, musicians must be aware that strings are
not
providing an easy solution to catch the sound we are searching, nor a
shortcut to improve our playing and achieve to play the most difficult
bow strokes.
* SOUND must be in our head and fingers first, then we will be able to
play our own sound with any string.
* DIFFICULT BOW STROKES can be played only after
hours of rehearsing and studying, the string will not play for us.
Nevertheless, the choice of the string is an important
factor in
our music, because can help us to achieve the sound we want. The sound
we are searching depends of a mix of factors: strings is surely one,
then also instrument, fingers, playing technique and
repertory must be taken into consideration. It is a matter of balance
which is not easy to achieve.
The same strings set will be satisfactory for a player and not for
another, even if they play the same music style. Moreover, the same
player
playing the same music on the same strings mounted on
different
instruments can find differences.
Before chosing our best string, we must be aware of the different types
on the market - at different prices - which will give different
satisfaction (or sometimes disappointment!). Before getting into the
details of whioch string brand and model we want to try, we should face
some philosophy.
The strings manufacturers have improved a lot in the last years and the
modern strings often offer longer life, easier tuning and stability
than in older times.
There are 3 families of strings:
1. GUT STRINGS (unwound gut or gut with metal winding)
2. STEEL STRINGS
3. HYBRID STRINGS (syntheytic
core or winding)
Each of these groups has different characteristics. During
the past years my cooperation with Pirastro allowed me to have
quite
a precise idea about the plus and minus of the most of the strings
available on the market.
Let me also say I have also used strings from other manufacturers and
my advise would cover strings from all the makers I had experience with.
