INTUITIVE MUSIC QUARTET: "Music from Fur Kommende Zeiten by KH Stockhausen"
with M. Mariotti (trumpet), Walter Prati (live electonics), Mell Morcone (piano)
Intuitive Music Quartet was born with the concrete objective to play compositions from the FÜR KOMMENDE ZEITEN (For Times To Come) cycle respecting the original intention of the German composer. The outcome of this work is a fluent music, balanced in sound, noises, silence and rich in shades and colors; all the performers give their contribution by creating music in cooperation, playing extemporary improvisations which are following the written text without citations or idioms, exactly as Stockhausen wanted.
L'Intuitive Music Quartet
(Quartetto di Musica Intuitiva) è nato con l'obiettivo concreto
di suonare le composizioni del ciclo di testi FÜR KOMMENDE ZEITEN
(For Times To Come), rispettando l'intenzione originale del compositore
tedesco. l risultato di questo lavoro è una musica fluida,
equilibrata nei suoni, rumori, silenzi e ricca di sfumature e colori;
tutti i musicisti vi contribuiscono creando musica in cooperazione,
suonando improvvisazioni estemporanee che seguono il testo scritto
senza citazioni o idiomi, esattamente come desiderava Stockhausen.

certo fatto ricordare le tante ore passate ad aqscoltare Charlie Haden
negli "Old and New Dreams"!
Ci sono composizioni di Stefano e improvvisazioni di noi quattro, il progetto intende ricreare le atmosfere di quelle forme jazzistiche che Don Cherry e Ornette Coleman hanno reso celebri, ma non è una rivisitazione del passato: qui siamo riusciti a raggiungere quella freschezza di idde che permette un ascolto in linea coi nostri tempi; qui il ruolo di sezione ritmica è totalmente sulle spalle del contrabbasso, ma devo dire che questa responsabiità non mi ha pesato: quando si suona con musicisti preparatissimi come questi la consapevolezza del processo creativo permette di suonare in vera libertà: FREEDOM!

Here there are Stefano compositions and imrpovisations by all of us, the project means to re-create the athmosphere of the Jazz style that Don Cherry and Ornette Coleman made popular, however this is not a revisitation of the past: we have here been able to reach that freshness of ideas that allows a listening in line with today's times; here the role of the rhythm section is all on my shoulders, but I have to say this responsibility is not heavy: playing with outstanding musicians like these, the consciousness of the creative process allows to play in true FREEDOM!

grandioso. Ha avuto la forza la consapevolezza ed il coraggio
di mostrare la strada da percorrere per vedere un'evoluzione

Jazz. Non è la prima volta che si dedica a sessioni di
contrabbasso: ha registrato REQUIEM con Henry Gimes, Sirone e
Alan
Silva, si è esibito live con Stefano Scodanibbio.... ed ora
tocca a me - incredibile! Inoltre è un personaggio squisito,
interessato, ci si può discutere di tutto. Spero vi godiate
fino
in fondo questo bel disco, molto equilibrato, con momenti di
alta
creatività e sonorità spaziali!Willliam is a maestro and recording with him is for me a great honour. He is one of the highest performers of amercian (and not only...) Creative Music, what he did fot the evolution of this musical style (or 'non-style') is great. He found the power, the understanding and the willingness to show the way to run to achieve evolution in Jazz. This is not the first time he makes double bass sessions: he recorded REQUIEM with henry Grimes, Sirone and Alan Silva, he performed live with Stefano Scodanibbio... and now it's my turn - incredible! Furthermore he is a great guy, so kind, interested, you can chat about anything with him! I hope you will enjoy this good recording from beginning to end,: it is well balanced, with moments of high creativity and spatial sound!

registrazione in duo con un simile Maestro del Jazz è
un'altra
grande esperienza! Ho approfittato del tour che l'amico violinista
Stefano Pastor ha organizzato con Borah Bergman per 'prenderlo in
prestito' per una sessione di registrazione davvero entusiasmante.
L'ottantenne pianista newyorkese non è conosciutissimo ma
tra
gli addetti ai lavori è un riferimento, con la sua
personalissima tecnica pianistica. Ha suonato (e suona) con
fior
di musicisti, tipo Evan Parker, Anthiony Braxton, Thomas Chapin,
William Parker, Hamid Drake.... Come spritosamente
mi
dice, devo essere orgoglioso del fatto che questo è il
miglior
CD realizzato da Borah in duo con un contrabbassista... anche
perchè è l'unico!
This duo recording
with such a
Master of Jazz is another great
experience! I took advantage of the italian tour that my friend the
violinist Stefano Pastor organized with Borah Bergman, borrowing him
for a hot recording session. The 80-years old newyorkese pianist is not
very famous but he is a reference player to the experts, thanks to his
faboulous, singular technicque. He played (and plays) with musicians of
the likes of Evan
Parker, Anthiony Braxton, Thomas Chapin, William Parker, Hamid
Drake.... As hehumoristically tells me, I have to be
proud
of the fact this is the best duo CD he made with a double bassist...
also because this is the only one!

Ho
coprodotto questo Cd con Stefano Pastor davvero volentieri, per tante
ragioni. Innanzitutto ammiro Stefano per la forza melodica e la sua
coraggiosa ricerca del suono del violino, dal quale ricava
suoni
non convenzionali. Inoltre, Giancarlo è un mito e suonare
con
lui è per me un punto d'arrivo: come non dimenticare che
è un'icona del Jazz italiano, è apprezzato
ovunque e sa
davvero cos'è la sperimentazione (e l'ha provato nientemeno
che
con Nono, Scelsi, Stockhausen...). Una
curiosità:
inizialmente ho opposto resistenza all'inserimento della batteria: io
favorisco le formazioni piccole e in particolare non amo suonare con i
batteristi; ma in questo caso Stefano ha avuto ragione, Daviano ha
davvero conferito quella forza che in tre non avremmo ottenuto.
I really liked co-producing this CD with Stefano, for several reasons. First, I admire Stefano's melodic power and his brave search of unconventional sounds on the violin. Then, Giancarlo is a myth and playing with him is a arrival point: he is an icon of the Italian Jazz and he really knows what experimental music is (and he proved it with gentlemen like Nono, Scelsi, Stockhausen...).
I was not keen to use drum in this recording, but I admit Stefano was right - the drumming of Daviano is here giving a power that we could not achieve without him.
I really liked co-producing this CD with Stefano, for several reasons. First, I admire Stefano's melodic power and his brave search of unconventional sounds on the violin. Then, Giancarlo is a myth and playing with him is a arrival point: he is an icon of the Italian Jazz and he really knows what experimental music is (and he proved it with gentlemen like Nono, Scelsi, Stockhausen...).

è davvero un'esperienza di quelle che rimangono impresse!
Avere
l'opportunità di registrare un Cd con tali musicisti (e
professionisti eccezionali) mi riempie di orgoglio; partecipai
a
un corso di Markus due anni prima, poi ho studiato assiduamente per
essere pronto all'evento. Abbiamo registrato musica assolutamente
intuitiva, dalla prima all'ultima nota senza il minimo riferimento
scritto nè verbale, seguendo l'istinto e le intenzioni, con
grande interplay e rispetto reciproco. Infine, è
dovuto il
ringraziamento all'amico Adalberto Montagna che oltre allla creazione
delle copertine ha partecipato all'operazione con grande entusiasmo!

nasce
da una curiosa circostanza - dopo anni che non frequentavo Carlo ci
siamo trovati per registrare un pomeriggio in uno studio in Val
d'Aosta, senza particolari aspettative sul risultato finale; era
infatti mia intenzione vericare in presa diretta l'efficacia degli
studi che stavo eseguendo in quel periodo, con un determinato approccio
alla musica improvvisata. Le poche tracce di musica scritta sono state
mostrate a Carlo solo nel momento della registrazione, per garantire la
massima spontaneità. Successivamente Carlo stesso ed alcuni
addetti ai lavori (tra i quali mi sento di citare Philip Clark e Barry
Guy) mi hanno incoraggiato a pubblicare il CD e l'avventura SILTA
RECORDS è iniziata!
